St Eval Candles in Stock for Christmas!

St Eval Candles at the Handmade Craft House

Christmas is a wonderful time for enjoying family and friends, for sharing gifts and showing them how much you love them. It’s also a time rich with sounds, tastes, sights and smells that are uniquely “Christmassy” and special.

One of our favourite scents is “Inspiritus” from St Eval Candles – a gorgeous blend of seasonal spices including nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. The fragrance is warming and uplifting, but not too strong that it overpowers the smell of the feast that’s being enjoyed!

We have a variety of shapes and sizes in stock – including lovely terrocotta pots in two sizes, dipped in gold that would make a perfect stocking-filler or “Secret-Santa” gift.

If you want something to bring a special touch to the Christmas table then the large pillar candle is just for you! Dipped in gold leaf, this candle looks and smells beautiful.

We’ve also got some “hedgerow” candles featuring the sweet “Wild Gorse” fragrance. It’s lovely coconutty scent is sweet but not sickly and looks beautiful on the hearth or coffee-table whilst everyone is relaxing after their feast!

Finally, the black and gold “Embers” fragranced pillar candle is a wonderful way to enjoy the scent of a real log fire at any time, even if you don’t have a fireplace! It smells just like a real log fire and is an absolute treat to snuggle down with.

Squirrels!

Red Squirrel - Handmade Craft House
Yes! There! Red Squirrels!

With a gloriously sunny start to November it’s off into the woods to see what Autumn has to offer- Squirrels galore and all red, what a joy to see.

Despite being chased across the woodland floor by my almost two year old grandson, nut in hand, calling out to the Squirrel “Eat it! Eat it!” We still managed to capture a few of them on camera.

Handmade Copse of Trees

Various handmade trees made using offcuts of locally grown hardwoods from the borderlands of Scotland. Handmade by Mike Dixon at the Handmade Craft House, Dumfries

These wonderful handmade tree decorations by Mike from offcuts of timber left after making his frames and chopping boards.

They are roughly finished and are charming on their own, but particularly so when grouped together in a little Copse.

As you can see, when grouped together the variety of the woods used – Ash, Beech, Elm, Oak, Sycamore – achieve a beautiful range of colour, texture and pattern which makes each Copse unique! Each piece of timber used is grown locally in the borderlands of Scotland.

These are available in our Dumfries store and Online either individually or in randomly selected “Copses” of 3 or 5 trees (£8.99, £26 and £42 respectively)
